The destruktive Lifestyle of VisualKey rockers

Quote

Hi, I'd read an interesting article about the destructive way of live of Visual Key members.

It is mentoined the heavy use of alcohol, nikotine, connections to Yakuza and as a result the use of amphetamine, depression, ,menthal health issues, ego problems, prostitution to earn money, pressue, highly early death rate etc. pp.

Any thoughts or experiences with it? Is this really this heavy, dark place?

I would be very interested to read your meaning about it.

/r/visualkei is a treasure and should be protected, i stan

Yesterday, some random chick told me, "you don't look like how you sound....you sound so humble and gentle, but you look like a monsta!"...Not sure if that was a compliment or not, but I suppose being a tall, dark-skinned dude with a beard and dreadlocks makes me look intimidating 😂

im kinda sad because I really want real  life visual kei friends but nobody around here is really into it at all, most would not even know what im talking about if I mentioned the word "visual kei" 😂

I am sure a lot of us here have felt like this. It's not the kind of interest you can strike up a conversation about, like Marvel movies or politics. It's a hard sell to others who even have a foot in the door by being fans of rock music or fashion too. For me, that's what makes it kind of special. It's why I joined MH after lurking for a long while!

yup exactly i know theres alot of people into obscure interests like visual kei who struggle with this haha im glad theres at least the internet where i can connect with others who share my interests otherwise id be all alone with this 😂 i tried bringing up visual kei to some of my friends that are into glam rock stuff because i thought they wouldnt be too weirded out by the bands looks since glam rock was pretty much almost the western equivalent to visual kei but they never show any interest i guess because the different language is an issue to them lol

Coincidentally, I'm also from Canada, and I got into VK through someone's post about it on a glam rock/metal forum years and years ago, so there certainly is crossover potential there, but I was also really into anime, so it being in Japanese felt like a plus at that point.

I'm actually surprised that the NYTIMES posted something like this tbh.

Every one of us is here because of a man and a woman, yet it's amazing to me that we, as humans, think we can circumvent simple, fundamental truths and still expect to prosper and progress in any meaningful way.
