We're going to get a new System of a Down album and the long awaited sequel to Chinese Democracy called Chinese Democracy 2: Electric Boogaloo before the new X Japan album. -

Quick thoughts of a grumpy old man. Scale: Yeah Hmm Meh Ugh "vainglory" by MEIDARA No major sins (other than that synth violin in the background, but it is pretty subtle), but feels utterly forgettable. "蜉蝣の夢" by FIXER Though this track had a little bit of "I've already heard this before" syndrome going on with it, it was still pretty solid. "Omelas" by JILUKA I liked the chorus, but otherwise this feels like "been there, done that" metalcore. "ドラマチックな恋心" by SAVAGE Those vocals are abysmal. "セクシーホモサピエンス" by クウチュウ戦 (Koochewsen) I feel like I should like this, but the vocals just came off as annoying. Which kind of sucks, as the instrumentals were solid. "ラビリンス" by MONDO GROSSO featuring 満島ひかり The beat felt a little stale, but overall I enjoyed the mood. "ガブリエル" by Yeti Vocalist fits this style well, still doesn't make this song interesting though. "See Inside" by PASSing truth DRIVE This song sounds like it is out of phase. Instant fail for the terrible production that makes my head feel like it is stuck in an echo chamber or something. "雨中遊泳" by Plastic Tree Blocked, too lazy to view via proxy lol "無重力" by Yeti The heavy parts are awesome. The transition nearly ruins this song. The production also kind of sucks. "最近じゃデパートのオリジナルソングにすら 幸せを感じるんだ" by The Mirraz This band has never clicked for me. This changes nothing there. "あましずくとマクガフィン" by グリモア (GRIMOIRE) Not bad by any means, actually pretty solid, but didn't really draw me in either. I should probably like this more than I do. "Bad Blood" by Acid Black Cherry This was not what I was expecting. Perhaps a bit too heavy on the bleep-bloops, but an interesting mashup of sounds. "Sans Toi Mamie" by Ataru Nakamura Sorry, what was that? I feel asleep. -

X Japan new album scheduled for 30th of TBD
NICKT and one other reacted to WhirlingBlack for a post in a topic
It's quite blatantly obvious at this point that X is merely a cash grab. Yoshiki spends more time licensing and branding sub-par shit than doing any form of music. Selling some re-packaged footage at obscene price points and playing short "dinner shows" where only elderly businessmen and Yakuza have the economical means to attend seems to be their game these days. Stop embarrassing the name of X Japan any further and disband, please. -

1 pointHello, hello! You can just call me Ni if you like! I'm a 22 year old girl from Germany and I've been into jrock/visual kei type music since I was about 13 or 14? Not so sure about that. ^^ I started out with the gazettE, dir en grey and despairs ray but I don't listen to those that much anymore these days (except old gazette stuff). I fell out of the loop with the music for a while and I've just recently gotten into it again and bothered to look up other/new bands. I've come across this forum while I was exploring and I thought I'd sign up to try and make some new friends! I'm no expert in the field of jrock/visual kei, I just listen to what I like, so please be kind to me. ^^

1 pointI dunno, quite a few (foreign) audience members tried it at the Years & Years live, and eventually Olly had to make a passive remark to shush them so he could, y'know, actually sing and be heard. Maybe some artists like it, but I don't get that vibe from what I see on YouTube. It often looks like the artist is just tolerating it. Also, like... singing along loudly with the band seems to be a pretty recent thing, like within the past 10 years. (At least in the U.S..) When I was going to concerts in high school people may have moshed, danced, crowd surfed, or mouthed along/sang in a low voice, but they didn't actually drown out the singer with their off key voices. It's just another one of those selfish "me, me, me" things people do now without any consideration to the other people around them. In any case, recording is generally prohibited in Japan, but live houses will usually give it a pass if it's a non-Japanese artist playing. It's also in poor taste to sing along when not cued. I've seen more live houses overseas looking like a funeral than in Japan tbh, but I have been to bigger concerts like Lady Gaga in Japan where most of the people just came just to come, and weren't actually that familiar with the artist or their songs so the crowd was pretty dead. As far as VK goes, you do furi for songs that have it, headbang/gyakudai/whatev for the harder songs, and for ballads it's polite to just listen, really soak in the atmosphere, and then applaud after.

1 pointhe's been sounding like shit for a few years now, which is partially hidden by weird sound production on some tracks, partially left as is. before that he was a pretty good vk vocalist (considering they always delivered as a live band, even in the indies days). how so most of negative feedback I've seen on them only concerns recent two or three albums — and the abundant re-re-re-re-release cashgrabbing avex has been especially fond of with them.
