In my few years of being a visual kei fan, I've talked a lot of shit, but I've also found my truest friends along the way. You have been with me through it all, and accepted me for who I am. You brought me back up when I was down. You even gave me a second chance when I was coming back from a downward spiral. And for that, I'm grateful. Thank you for being my friends. ♥

It doesn't matter if they wanna leave vk, tons of previous vk acts have moved on outside the scene and been successful. Look at Miyavi, sure his music is questionable now but his roots were in vk and there's something special about that. Most people here would've followed dimlim to hell and back, regardless if they carried on in vk or not. The issue is that under RETSU's leadership, dimlim's reputation and image has been turned into a joke. They could've left vk and been signed under any number of other labels that would've managed their look/marketing/social media but, Mr Lets wants to be as true to his craft as possible by managing everything himself, including relations with fans (the very fans who keep this project going, who put food and clothes on their table). I don't think he has any previous experience with this and it shows. Seriously just look at what Issei did with NAZARE in less than a year, dimlim devolved violently when they had every reason to have surpassed NAZARE in popularity/numbers/whatever. If you can't see what's wrong with those interview videos they released on youtube or with the lack of direction/communication that's going on currently, then I'm sorry but I can't spell it out for you more than it's already been done. I don't even know what you are arguing against/for anymore.

People in the thread don't hate dimlim, we want them to succeed because they showed some of the strongest potential we'd seen around in a stale scene. People are salty because dimlim are shooting themselves in the foot and fucking up what could've been fantastic for fans, the band and vk.

Well said and every post you've made here has been absolutely spot on. I agree we need to disagree and drop this now but after all this I find it completely bewildering we have one member who literally doesn't seem to be understanding anything anyone is saying and tbh their obsession with DIMLIM from what they've said here is a bit scary. So there's no point anyone saying anything if you don't think everything DIMLIM have done revolving the release of MISC and post has been anything short of incredible. Haha. As many have said, the change of musical style and look wasn't the problem for me either. Just a shame to see this band who were doing so well for themselves basically destroy themselves. I mean with the lack of activity and engagements of any kind they have no one to blame but themselves for people losing interest in them. And the comparisons to Dir en Grey changing styles are completely dumbfounded as yes, they changed styles, but they were also WAYYYYYY more popular after releasing their first album than DIMLIM have been in their entire career. Unless DIMLIM secretly did a sold out show on the release of VARIOUS or CHEDDAR no one has ever told me about?? Lol. Funny it was mentioned that NAZARE show reports recently have claimed they weren't well attended.... I saw some clips Issei posted of drumcams during shows and was actually surprised how well attended they were considering the situation and the impending disbandment.... :/ But ya know what, maybe NAZARE disbanding is DIMLIMs guardian angel, maybe Issei should come back and set Retsu and the lads straight and make them great again. Why not bring uta along for the ride as well? Haha.

I obviously can't speak for everyone but I don't think the change in style is why most people here are criticizing them. Sure, not everyone was happy about their new sound and lack of makeup, but if they genuinely wanted to do something else than I ain't mad at them for doing it. The problem for me is that when I think about Dimlim (Retsu aside) the most recent thing I can remember is how bad and confusing the band's marketing was during the release of MISC. That sticks out to me way more than the actual music on MISC, despite me listening to it several times. And this is the most recent thing I remember because they haven't given me anything to think about since MISC, and that was nearly a year ago now. I understand why they couldn't do their planned shows, but they haven't really done anything else in the meantime. No real updates or engagements. And I honestly don't think I've ever felt this way with any other active band. Of course bands have released albums I didn't like, but my last thought about them was always "Oof, I wish that sounded better," and not "Oof, I wish they released the album on time and didn't let their guitarist on Instagram and didn't go silent for a year."

Jeeez, why are you so intent on defending DIMLIM so hard? XD As I said I used to (and still do) love all their stuff before MISC, but if people are even questioning if the band is dead and are completely losing interest in the band something is clearly wrong with what they're doing, or not doing..... haha. + Is kind of ironic that Issei was kicked from DIMLIM for what seemed to be similar reasons to behaviour Retsu has been showing. Wanting total control and being melodramatic blocking anyone who says anything negative about DIMLIM online and all that. That's pathetic.

Gonna just repeat my thoughts on DIMLIM for the zillionth time (as someone who loved them) - MISC. should have been an EP and they need to fill out their lineup before they start "touring the world" because I don't think they realize that playing with backtracks has like...way worse connotations in other scenes/countries than it does in the context of VK (and it sounds worse).

My thoughts exactly. I watched their videos on youtube because I wanted to know why people called him Lets, and omg, I thought all the whole thing was a joke. I followed them since Chedora, but I don't know what to think anymore. They had a huge potential, but the lack of management and everything I learned while lurking this thread, well, it's too bad. And I agree, I don't see on what we're supposed to argue now, I think everything has been said.

I love Tupac as an artist, but I really feel like he's severely misunderstood. Most people treat him like he's some all righteous Jesus figure, when in reality, he was quite an imperfect guy with a lot of flaws, but I think that actually makes his story interesting. I mean, for one, he wasn't even originally a gangster. He was a theatre kid from Harlem. He didn't start repping the bloods until Suge waved money in his face, and that's when he really started getting mad with power. I mean, he was literally starting beefs with EVERYONE, even fucking De La Soul of all fucking people. (And contrary to popular misconception, Biggie wasn't a crip, crips weren't a thing in NY at the time, but he did hire crips as bodyguards when he went over to the west coast). I think MC Eiht put it best. He went backwards by affiliating himself with gangs, and it's just unfortunate it ended the way it did

For some reason this completely flew under my radar, but it appears RAKUGAKI has released their 1st digital single under their alterego moniker 羅苦餓鬼 (also read as "Rakugaki") on 2020/10/31, titled 『殺意二満チタ貴女へ…』("Satsui NI miCHITA kijo E..."). As you could guess from the stylization of the title, it's more of a dark kote-kei influenced record compared to their usual eclectic pop-punk rock style. This comes as too late now, but they were also taking pre-orders for a special made-to-order cassette version of the single until 8th November (i.e. the number of copies are limited to the number of preorders). So that slipped us by now, but at least we can listen to the tunes online. TuneCore link Here is the Youtube playlist of the single for those who don't have Spotify and want to have a quick listen: I thought this was quite fun! Still sad to see these guys go so soon...

I really wish they could or had interest in changing labels because all this lame shit is the fault of the management. It's not a coincidence that suddenly gulu gulu is doing the same promotional edits on spotify the second they got signed. I'm sure in promotion they have 0 creative control aside from the aesthetics of the merch and whether on this tour they'll be selling the star of david hot wheel or the Shinya XXL condom packet. They wouldn't even come overseas if they weren't forced to.

I mean, what's there to be happy about? A new single? Wow, other artists put out entire EPs (Bring Me the Horizon) or even albums (Tallah). Concert livestreams? Wow, one concert livestream, while other artists manage to put entire tours together (Suicide Silence). The very same livestream that's then included on the physical version of said single by the way. And then their label's audacity of uploading boring ambient versions of their songs in multiple parts to get some scrapes from their fans streaming those. As if that would make a difference. And it's not even done under the DIR EN GREY band name, so it's made even more obvious that it's just a cashgrab. Or their super-hyped livestreams that turned out to just be studio audio playlists, curated by the members. Wow, so imaginative, much special, what are Spotify playlists? Or their LIVE ARCHIVE, which could've been an insane database of all the stuff DEG has done over their career. Instead it's some random DVDs - not even a knot stuff, mind you - that every fan with the bare minimum of interest has already watched. Or that the label acts as if putting the music on streaming websites would be this supersuper cool thing, that nobody has ever thought of, when streaming has been huge for years. Only to THEN put out fucking radio edit versions of their songs. Of course this pandemic doesn't hit everyone with the same force, but compared to almost all other bands I listen to, DEG hasn't done a whole lot. And of course I know that they're currently writing and recording their next album. But even then they could do stuff like vlogs or so. Or maybe I'm just salty because shit-krad keeps striking my videos lol

There were some tiny hints on Kidoairaku but that's been it. There're even more hints on Rijin than on Kidoairaku which again held more of Chedoara, that's why Misc. was such a surprise for almost everyone. As I said, I don't mind Misc., I like it. But it's still not the banger than their stuff before had. In the end I don't care what they're doing. I think they shall try things out, if they like. I always am of the opinion that artists should do what they like instead of what others expect them to do. But they have to live with the consequences resulting from this. If they lose most of their fans by changing over and over again because they want to try out many different things but complain about their fans not being supportive it's just whiny and pathetic. No one expects them to change as well as they can't expect no one to love those changes. That's simply it. Those who love them for being these people will follow them anyway. And those who (only) love them for their music might quit, if that music changes and ain't to their liking anymore. That's simply how things are. And yeah, I didn't think they're about to quit, right by what Retsu put up on IG. Yet I don't care about what he puts there as long as there's no release announced it doesn't matter. Since I don't trust what's about to come until I hear it, I don't care about words.

Yeah, I had a double check and that seems correct, but even still, the reports were not very positive either way. Sadly. But from here as they have changed, or at least seem to want to change the identity of the band it makes me wonder if they ever do anything again if they'll stick purely with MISC stuff. You said Hiroshi's insta story was him playing "What's up" right? So I can't help but feel they'll be dropping all pre-MISC stuff in the future. If there is a future for them at all.... lol. For sure! Retsu isn't a bad song writer! Far from it. His work on everything since Issei left upto MISC has been pretty damn awesome. I still listen to all their stuff pretty regularly. The problem is, Retsu doesn't seem to know what he wants to do and building a solid fanbase is going to be hard if you keep changing your style/band identity so often. Sure they'll gain new fans, keep some old fans but they will also lose fans like that. So basically they seem to be struggling to maintain a stable fanbase. So if Retsu can just stick with one thing, push forward with that and build from there, maybe it can work. But as Demivee said above "There is no concept, no content and no clear path of what this band is aiming for." it's hard to really see at this point what is going to happen with them. Again, if anything. Weird about the store, guess there are some changes happening, but whether they're for the best or worst remains to be seen.

I can understand both of your points. Of course DIMLIM still has a huge potential with an A+ singer and a solid/creative guitarist. And yes, even MISC. has some highs which I hope they could improve over the possible next record. But what is definiteley not deniable is that the presentation of the band (Retsu) is literally a catastrophe. There is no concept, no content and no clear path of what this band is aiming for. In my opinion - and that should be for the most people here - is that I like a band partially because of the music and partially because of the look/theme/appearence (whatever you may name it). The music: ok they changed (and it's our turn next hehe) and I can accept that. The apperance: They wanted to quit VK, that's ok! But what are they aiming for? And for that I think this band is nearly dead. They abandoned fans from the past as they wanted to do a cut and will be struggling to gather new fans because of a) no shows at the moment and b) no concept. And that's a shame as this band had/has so much potential. Ah yes and that "positive reaction from overseas" is - in my opinion- a leftover from CHEDOARA and I would bet that most of the people who got tickets for the oversea shows didn't buy them to get wild over "Lament" if you know what I mean..

It's hard to tell. Their OHP is like... dead or not working but their last Twitter post was in August. Their official merch site is still up and running. Agreed. Communicating is difficult and, in many instances, an art. Many people are not willing to put forth the effort of consideration and empathy to accurately get your point across without causing offense. So generally, as you said, people are inclined either to lie, or be as blunt as possible. Both are repugnant and contribute to a poorer society for us all.

Ya know, when i think about the great lengths that people go to avoid confronting themselves and their inner bullshit, it's no wonder that so many ppl fail at relationships. Relationships are like mirrors, and it's usually at the point when a person's partner reflects their own bullshit back to them, that they jump ship. A lot of ppl are absolutely terrified of themselves, despite how much they may pretend not to be.

Lying to people in order to "spare their feelings" is a selfish cop-out imo. I think when people do that, it's more about them being inept and immature rather than having genuine concern for the other person. That said, feelings do matter. There are ways to relay the truth to someone without being a dismissive asshole about it. So people who do the opposite and say shit like "i don't care how i come off, the truth is the truth" are equally annoying.

That wasn't weird because it can affect future live limited releases when fans realize they can pirate it anyway and those buying multiple copies to resell would think twice if they can't sell their extra copies at twice the price lol. Japan also takes piracy seriously, there had been arrest there for persons uploading manga and anime content illegally online. Japanese major labels has been waging war on illegal uploads on YT for years.Masa of NB also said the same thing Retsu said a few years ago.
