  1. I feel like alot of indies vk bands now making music that is more technical, complex and require a very high level of skill diminishes the uniqueness factors of each band. Atleast to me, you can only play so fast and technical before it all starts to sound similar.
It's not the complexity that i find less appealing but rather how each band is competing to sound the heaviest, most technical, etc. Like yeah that one guy is a hell of a guitarist, but so is the other guy who shows the same high skills.

The older indies bands were more simple, they had less skillful players but their songwriting or just songs in general had a more personal side to it. It was naive but a naivety i could relate.  The sound was more authentic, a sound that i can't class under a single genre.

But maybe it's not because  entirely of the higher competition nowadays, but rather the exposure to the popularity rise of djent/br00tal music from the west? And also the market and production of it has become more formulaic throughout the years compared to the 90s-00s bands.

The "it's Wednesday, my dudes" meme was fucking shite and so is the "nobody" meme. Funny at first, but then they just got so overused so quickly. Thank fuck both have pretty much died (I think the "nobody" meme is dead, anyways).

But atleast the wednesday frog is pretty cute.

I'm not sure if anyone's really influenced my hair, but I've noticed it's kinda similar to Masashi from Versailles'.

My makeup sometimes changes, but not drastically. I just like studying VK makeup and finding things I like by accident... and even then, my makeup's not really that VK, anyways. Rip.

Oh, well. At least I always make sure to put that obligatory pale stripe down the bridge of my nose.

As for my clothes, I want to be a tanbi kei goth-loli. I have a big wish list on Lolitashow, but my bank account says "no" at the moment.

Right now, I'd say I'm closer to otome kei than anything. My hair's kinda VK, but everything else just screams "otome". Not that I mind. If I play otoge, I may as well look otokei.

Also, I know you can't see it in that picture, but there's a massive black bow on the back of my head, just as there always is. Just the way I like it.

Though its still much more legit than my attemps. I like it.

  4. I don't have much friends but i did show my best mate who's really into black and thrash metal some Gazette and Mejibray during highschool. Needless to say, he wasn't much into it. However years later i made him listen to Dir en grey's Gauze and he absolutely loved it!

But i do feel you, it's quite lonely being a vk fan in real life, any other people i know cringe at the sight of japanese bandomen, and of course wouldn't give the music a chance. 🤧

  5. I don't see the appeal of k-pop.

I don't like their attitude, the stanbase. They all look and sound the same.

Especially the modern style like the great BTS; The music so overly perfect produced  that it's uncanny, the overly flashing visuals with no theme but just to be 'flamboyant as possible', and don't get me started on the copy paste bowlcuts(nothing  personal against bowlcuts) hairstyles 👀

It sounds really arrogant but i can't feel the soul in their music, even when they sing about emotional topics because i know there's a huge writing and production team behind it sooo it kinda dulls the message...(i know, some vk bands do this too)

And while people have freedom over whatever they like, it's kinda sad seeing so many ex-visual kei fans converting to k-pop, but never the opposite.

  6. In no particular order:

    Dir en grey - Kisou

Luna Sea - Mother/Period(compilation album, depends on mood)

Malice Mizer - voyage sans retour

    The Piass - Piass

Alice Nine - Alpha(one of the first albums i ever bought, special place in my kokoro)

And alot of others are one-off singles or mini albums.
