I haven't been thrilled by their latest singles but I am still excited to hear the EP.
  2. Cereal Killer 13

This deserves its own thread tbh.
  3. Cereal Killer 13

Well now I'm even more nauseous.
  4. Cereal Killer 13

This makes me want to play Jubeat. I can just see it now. Hands putting in work like Sonic's shoes.
  5. Cereal Killer 13

I have been meaning to try and pay closer attention to their releases.
  6. Cereal Killer 13

I stream to discover new music but when I like stuff I buy it. People I really like I buy physicals (vinyl if available and CDs).
  7. I keep seeing this topic but could not for the life of me come up with an answer. Thought about it though and perhaps Nero (MERRY)? He's an Aquarius and I get along good with them and we'd go shoe shopping. I like a lot of his sneakers.
  8. Cereal Killer 13

I had Lin (ex. Abstracts, NCBL) respond to a comment I made in an IG live. Also a guy from a Jpop group follows me and I don't know why but whatever. I don't really comment on artists posts like that.
  9. I recently saw an interview with the Gazette and they said they had never been roadies for other bands.
  10. Cereal Killer 13

    Wow I feel bitter.
  11. Cereal Killer 13

I just posted the video with Die and Toshiya somewhere else on here. Didn't know about the one with J. I think it has to do with how rock has been dying in the west. In 2007 some form of it was still holding on in popularity. But now beggars can't be choosers and so anything that will get people talking/clicking is now fair game. A number of Japanese bands have been doing well for themselves abroad. I wonder if we'll start seeing stuff like this with the Japanese metalcore bands that have been building fanbases abroad (and they appeal to people who don't necessarily care about Jrock/vkei).
  12. Cereal Killer 13

All of this stuff is being uploaded now but they did a lot more interviews than I expected while here. https://youtu.be/irSDzpy6lIY
  13. Cereal Killer 13

So is this the official Crystal Lake thread here because....?
  14. Cereal Killer 13

Everyone loves to say this but is it really that easy?
  15. Cereal Killer 13

I'd be more active if there was more discussion on bands outside of vkei. A lot of the time I'll search for specific bands and I see that they have fans here but there are never topics made about them. I came out of lurking because of a non vkei band having a thread made about two of the members.
  16. Cereal Killer 13

Yo thanks. I had no idea about this. A lot of non vkei Japanese bands I listen to have done Warped, some more than once. They most certainly have a better approach to touring overseas. A lot of my favorites have pretty much made Europe their second home.

That sucks as translating stuff can be time consuming depending on what it is. I wonder why fans for some bands wouldn't care? As for getting non vkei metal fans into the bands I see where you are coming from. I was a "normal" metal fan stumbled onto some vkei acts by coincidence (read an article on Miyavi in a graffiti magazine I used to read). It wasn't introduced to me by another fan or a weird Japan sort of way. I'm pretty open minded though. I will say that now I listen to way more non vkei Japanese bands. If you think vkei fandoms are quiet, move on to Jrock outside of vkei....cue crickets 😣
  18. Cereal Killer 13

The lack of translations is insane. I can read/understand Japanese but even I sometimes just don't feel like dealing with having to look up a word(s) I might not know. In the past translations for stuff was easier found but now, either you better know enough Japanese yourself or know someone who can translate for you even if it's a rough translation. Heaven help you if you are fan of bands that don't have a fandom with some translators.

There were rappers outside of the "norm" in the 90s and 00s (Andre 3000 being an example who became extremely mainstream). Also this emo rapper thing is pretty much the new norm and standard. It's all still really manufactured when you think about how these streaming sites and social media sites work. I noticed how manufactured it had become when Adele would show up on lesser known R&B singers streaming stations but the lesser knowns would NEVER get streams if you were listening to an Adele station. But that is a totally different conversation. Unless vkei bands start mumble rapping I don't see it. (That would be hilarious tho).

I don't think anyone can honestly blame DJs. DJs are just doing their jobs. At the end of the day it is music fans who hold the most power. I can't remember which TV pop talent show it was but I remembering reading about fans in like the UK being over those types shows and they all mass streamed/bought Rage Against the Machine music pushing it to number one in protest. When fans start throwing money around and making noise stuff happens.
  21. Cereal Killer 13

Even when it was popular it was a niche thing. I would say people in the community could do a better job at broadening the discussion and making communities more lively to join. That would help but a lot of the fans have gone silent or moved on to more active fandoms/communities.

I tend to pick up on lyrics fast when they are in my native language, Japanese it takes me longer and an insane amount of plays. Diru song I learned the fastest was Toguro but that song has a play count in the thousands. I listen to too much other stuff to do that for every song.
  23. Cereal Killer 13

Do you mean as far as vkei bands because the non vkei Japanese bands I like seem to stop coming for different reasons or the exact opposite?
  24. Cereal Killer 13

I was not expecting us to get the final. I am not going to be able to think straight at work today. Oh and there were tote bags at our show. In fact everything was there. No change in prices. I'm trash so I bought the hoodie anyway and a t shirt. I regret nothing. That's my new favorite hoodie.
  25. Cereal Killer 13

This is a crock of shit. My show is tomorrow and at this point I'm light weight thinking fuck merch. I have tickets to buy this week for the Crystal Lake show next year. As much as I like the hoodie I don't like feeling like I'm being scammed.
