In this case, it's not a matter of being a fan or not in my opinion. Tastes are different. You don't like the way Galneryus sounds and that's ok. But that doesn't change the fact that they are talented at playing their instruments.

They are probably more talented than a lot of European and American bands. And they are japanese. In my opinion, it's not a country that makes music. It's the individuals that actually make it, so it's useless to say "Japan makes great rock but sucks at metal".

You might be right about Versailles having a lot of fangirls, but then again, there are far more people who like Versailles for their music and many of them probably hate the way they look. Versailles is pretty well known outside of the Visual Kei scene. As I said, a lot of their fans probably have no clue what Visual Kei is, yet they still like them. That's all I wanted to point out. I'm not saying you're wrong, Versailles for sure has a lot of fangirls.

When it comes to Versailles, I'd say they are not overrated because they have a lot of fans that really like them for their music. Versailles is probably one of the bands with most fans outside of the 'VK scene'. There are a lot of people who like Versailles but probably don't even know what VK is.

People don't blame a band for having fangirls, they blame the fangirls for being fangirls. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a band, but have you ever seen a 'real' fangirl in action? They are annoying and in many cases don't really know much about the band or whatever they are a fangirl of. And that's why those bands are overrated. I'm not saying that the bands that have a lot of fangirls are bad because it's just as you said: Everyone has their own taste in music. But the fact that there are some/many/a lot of (whatever) people who claim to like a band just for coolness reasons or whatever makes a band overrated in that sense. overrated =/= bad

Check out Rin': I'm looking for some japanese Power Metal Bands, which means that I prefer guitar solos, fast guitar playing and such.

This. All of the well known J-Rock bands are overrated when you look at it that way.

They have probably already been posted, but I didn't read the whole thread: Adolf The skull fuck revolvers
  10. When: Don't know exactly. It was like 9 or 10 years ago...Let's say it was 2001. Where: On my computer How: Downloaded the japanese versions of the anime intros I liked back then. Liked the japanese versions even more.

Hey guys, basically, I've been registered at Tainted World for about 2 years or so, but back when I registered for the first time I wasn't active at all. So I just found this new forums by accident and I was like: Hell yeah, let's register again, I'm bored anyway. Ok, so I'm male (although I don't look like it :/), 20 atm, studying Japanese studies and Philosophy, which means that I am interested in those two things. As you may have figured, I also like japanese music (guess that's why I registered here), but I don't listen to many Visual Kei bands, simply because I don't like that many of them. There are some really good ones, but for each good VK band, there's like 20 bad ones (considering all of the indie bands that disband after 1 year). Of course, that's just what I think. Lately I've been listening to the following bands: Spinalcord, Galneryus, Unlucky Morpheus, Rin' and a lot of stuff from Hizaki (also some of his older bands such as Schwardix Marvally, but also the newer ones). Mostly Power Metal, as you can see...I used to listen to a lot more, and I still do so from time to time, but I got bored by most of my music, so I don't listen to it very often anymore. So yeah, that's all for now.
