I was surprised to see that there wasn't a topic specifically discussing anything like this unless the search option is failing me Basically the aim of this topic is I'm curious where a lot of you listen to your music from online (since I know everyone has an iPod or mp3 player of some sort and YouTube is just...YouTube). I'm also having trouble with my Last.fm since I cannot find a good scrobbler or source where I can listen to my obscure and unknown Jrock bands (since most rarely show up on Spotify, iTunes, Cloud, etc.). So feel free to suggest something about this! So...yeah. What websites do you listen to your music from, and share your username or profile for/from that site if you so wish.

As with other BNR threads that @Bear,@Jigsaw9 or myself used to put up, I thought it'd be good to make that good ol' summary thread beforehand (not too early, huh?) You know the drill: no formats, restrictions or templates - post your favs (I'd recommend full-length/EP releases for the sake of keeping lists less tl;dr-y) off this year SO FAR (in case you managed, um, to pinpoint a few favs). I'll come back later for my cents

Hello! I need some help to find the name of the band who play this song: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6l4006h7zzgb436/01+unknow+band.mp3 I really liked that song, but I have no idea which band is or the name of music. If someone can help me, i'll be very glad. Even if you do not know, try to show this to some friend(if not bother you of course) to increase the chance. It's my first topic here in Monochrome Heaven, I have hope that I haven't done anything wrong(and sorry my bad english ^^ ). Many thanks in advance!!!

Does anyone know good anime that focus around rock bands ? BECK (26 episodes): I think this is the best one because it explains lots of things about learning an instrument and being in a band. http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2320 I've watched Kaikan Phrase which is closer to the visual kei genre, but after some episodes, it starts to get boring, too much romance and less talk about music, anyway, it was worth it because of the music and the first episodes. The band that did the soundtrack was called Lucifer. The songs are very nice. Kaikan Phrase (44 episodes): http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=843 To-y (1 OVA): I've found this one searching through anidb website, it looks like a classic. http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2922 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Wyj9dy__Y

For me its when the acting sucks, or there nothing to suck you in. i don't mean quality more like you click off the video because it felt like it was noting good to watch, or the moves where bad or didn't match.

This is a thread for Video Game music I write. (Rather, I should say video game style.) My style is rather diverse and I don't usually stick to one genre. But if I had to say what I'm good at it'd be ambient/orchestral, rock/metal, and electronic/beats. To kick it off, here's some music I made for a "creepy" point-and-click adventure game at a Game Jam. (You can play the game here. We never finished it so it's quite buggy). For this soundtrack, I drew some inspiration from Akira Yamaoka of the Silent Hill series, particularly this track: Lisa' Theme I wanted to convey a sad yet somewhat uplifting mood to fit the ending of the game. Anyways, hope you guys find something you like.

This subject deserved its own thread. We've been trying to discuss this on too many different places. Here I thought we could try to understand the whole history behind visual kei(and along with it, japan's 80s and 90s rock and pop come along, I guess). For years we've had really bad wiki texts trying to write about visual kei and failing along with it. To abridge the entire scope of the visual kei scene to only "a bunch of guys influenced by glam metal" like every copy-pasted lastfm biography says means next to nothing. Here we had for the late 80s and 90s bands playing speed metal, gothic rock and new wave and they were all part of the same scene. Some bands mixed these genres, others played only one of these, and there were even bands that introduced other stuff in the mix - but all of them using the strong visual element as the way to hit their message. As much as I tried to find, it's hard to see a scene as convoluted and intriguing anywhere else in the world. My idea is to mostly focus on late 70's, 80's and 90's japanese music and the western influences, trying to guess how it became what it was and what it is today. Maybe to try to answer a question that never really goes away on japanese music boards: A scene or a genre?

Somehow I didn't find an appropriate topic for this? To be more specific; I don't mean just funny PVs or bad / crappy / shocking PVs neither PVs where members just mess around - I mean PVs that seem to be a bit deeper and totally make you scratch your head or where you don't get the meaning or parts of it; the ones that are really strange and / or confusing due to the content or story, a bit deeper then just "WTF" (I hope somebody gets my point here - sorry if not, I know it sounds unusual )... I'd love to get some Youtube samples here, maybe stuff that's not so well known. -> Just a sample I recently stumbled upon. Reason; grapes ?!?
