FLCL, the classic six-episode anime, is returning for two more seasons, thanks to Cartoon Network. The cable channel is collaborating with original studio Production I.G. on 12 new episodes that will air on Adult Swim's Toonami block, according to a press release. The revival will serve as a direct sequel set years after the distinctive sci-fi comedy, which wrapped in Japan back in 2001. The company offered a few details about what to expect in the coming episodes: In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock. Along with the returning characters, staff members from the first season will come back to work on the new episodes, the company said; that includes creator Kazuya Tsurumaki. Despite only lasting six episodes, Production I.G. and co-producer Gainax's original series quickly developed a cult following. Toonami has since ran and re-ran FLCL (pronounced "Fooly Cooly") in English for stateside audiences several times over the past 15 years. While the Saturday night Toonami block typically airs licensed properties, it's worked with Production I.G. to develop original series in the past. 26 episodes of IGPX, an original anime produced with Cartoon Network, aired in 2005. http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/24/11301854/flcl-season-two-new-episodes-toonami I'm freaking out
  4. DavidB.Rockin

Hello,My name is DavidB.Rockin. I love Music and Anime. I've been listening Jrock and Visual Kei bands/music since I was in high school(10th or 11th). I've decided to listen to japanese bands and music that were or weren't featured in Anime back in high school. I've also been a fan of Classic Rock for many years and decided to look for bands similar to Led Zeppelin,so I decided to search for Japanese bands from the 60s,70s,80s,and 90s(mostly 80s and 90s)....my intro to Jrock and Visual Kei was anime theme songs,LUNA SEA,La'cryma Christi, and L'Arc~en~Ciel.....In my search results for similar bands to Led Zeppelin/classic rock,I found a few bands that are similar to american/uk bands. I'm a fan of the oldschool Visual Kei bands, I also love some Nagoya Kei bands.

  6. Hello and welcome to our third edition of Anime Theme Recommendations (ATR) of 2016! Unfortunately, it's been another quiet season for anime openings, but busy outside of it (just see our Recommended Tracks in contrast)! Still, we've picked out what we think are the best of the very best, this time with what Spring had to offer. But do you agree? Feel free to leave comments/discussion on anything we might have missed or something that might have caught your eye! Opening to Berserk 9mm Parabellum Bullet - "インフェルノ (Inferno)" Ending to 一人之下 (Hitori no Shita): The Outcast Affective Synergy - "In the Dawn" Opening to Danganronpa 3 binaria - カミイロアワセ (Kami-iro Awase) Ending to Handa-kun 鈴村健一 (Kenichi Suzumura) - "HIDE AND SEEK" Opening to 双星の陰陽師 (Sousei No Onmyouji) i Ris - "Re:Call" Ending to Berserk やなぎなぎ (yanaginagi) - "瞑目の彼方 (Meimoku no Kanata)" Ending to Servamp 寺島拓篤 (Terashima Takuma) - "Sunlight Avenue" Thanks for visiting, reading and enjoying! We'll catch you in December for the last season of this year!
  7. I thought this might need its own thread, so here goes~ http://myanimelist.net/news/47204328 How do we all feel about this? With already done anime adaptions from previous years that weren't too amazing (looking at Dragon Ball Z, Death Note, and Avatar, not so respectively), how can we ever be confident anymore? This goes without saying to both Japanese and Western adaptions. With the recent news on Death Note's dreaded American adaption (which you'll find plenty of updates on), and no forgetting about the very much spoken of and anticipated Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett Johansson, is anyone genuinely excited about these (SAO, especially!)? Or are we all always walking on egg shells when it comes to live adaptions? Don't get me wrong, I have liked plenty of them, and they've had their own success (mainly the Japanese ones, amirite? >.>)~ I think of 20th Century Boys and Rurouni Kenshin. But I'm pretty intrigued how it'll be a series. I'm NOT intrigued that it's SAO. I really cannot be any less interested in the show after trying it out a bit and being so underwhelmed. If anything, all these adaptions make me sad how the focus, effort, energy and love can be put into something better, like more deserving mangas getting the anime treatment, and even some much needed sequels of a couple of anime seasons (like Highschool of the Dead... I mean Toaru Majutsu no Index)! Also do note, this thread can be used to talk about any and all adaptions of this entertainment (anime/manga). I used SAO as the main starter subject because of its very recent relevance to open it up. Stage play Yowamushi and musical Kuroshitsuji any time though. /o/

  9. Tie-ins were quite often, albeit partially discussed in almost every news/general thread - be it VK or not. As such, some might have associated vairous news about "artist X doing a song Y as a tie-in" with "pre-emptive mediocrity" (i.e. they "know" beforehand that it's gonna "suck hard"). This leaves us to ponder : how do you guys relate to this "tie-in phenomenon"? Do tie-ins matter a lot in your favorite artists' repertoire? Many listeners wouldn't really care about this. However, specific episodes in MH history such as Gazette's SHIVER being extremely crapped upon due to its (obvious) tie-in status (or MUCC) gave me enough confidence to assume that at least SOME do care after all, lol.
  10. Like the title saysm how to you like it? Also we can discuss do you like it bloody, long, technical, without talking, intelligent? What about that cheap-shot or lucky opening?

Does anyone know good anime that focus around rock bands ? BECK (26 episodes): I think this is the best one because it explains lots of things about learning an instrument and being in a band. http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2320 I've watched Kaikan Phrase which is closer to the visual kei genre, but after some episodes, it starts to get boring, too much romance and less talk about music, anyway, it was worth it because of the music and the first episodes. The band that did the soundtrack was called Lucifer. The songs are very nice. Kaikan Phrase (44 episodes): http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=843 To-y (1 OVA): I've found this one searching through anidb website, it looks like a classic. http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2922 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Wyj9dy__Y
  12. Melt-Banana wrote a new song called "Halo Of Sorrow From Animation" as a 2nd ep ending song (reminder: just for 1 episode only!) for a new anime called "Ninja Slayer From Animation" (from the creators of Kill la Kill (TRIGGER)) The first episode is set to be premiered on April 16th (weekly release = MB's song will be premiered on 23rd, I think?) through Nico Nico Douga, and the 1st episode ED will be a new song from Boris, "Kill Mister". it's yet unknown whether they will carry on with constantly changing ED songs or not). The main theme of the show will be Boom Boom Satellites' "BACK IN BLACK", and the OST in general will be composed and arranged by electro DJ Shinichi Osawa. Melt-Banana's "new look" for the said promo (?): Trailer (with Boom Boom Satellites' song) Other details will be available soon... Source: natalie.mu, Ninja Slayer's promo site (http://www.ninjaslayer-animation.com/)' Ps. is it me or did Boris song leak much earlier tho...?

I'm curious to see how these films will turn out. From the looks of things, they gave back some of the grittier animation of the 90's original film. All the voice actors have been replaced in the Japanese version, but I wonder if they'll stick to the same voice cast in the English version. And I would have loved to have Yoko Kanno do the music again. At the very least I hope this lives up to the standard the TV series has.
