"Inspiration" - where does music find it?

Recommended Posts

Ok.

So my brother and I were browsing some Visual kei PV's and stumbled across a PV from Daisystripper called "Uso to Kagero"

Now I KNOW the background music in the chorus is from another song, but for fucks sake we can't remember the damn song!

Calling all VK OG's! Help us find the damn song they took that music from.

as for opening and chorus instrumental part, it sounds very, very power-metal-ish. something that galneryus would do.

i've heard it before too, but i'm not very familiar with galneryus's discography, but i'd start searching there first...

Now, just for the record, I am not accusing them of plagiarism.

I know it's hard to come up with or even enter a new genre of music without being accused of ripping off some other bands' style or melody.

I love the song BTW. It's just that the melody the plays along after the chorus has been eating away at me all night. So I haven't rested much.

I know I have listened to it before, or else why even bring it up? I can't (for the 10+ years of listening to Japanese music) pinpoint the exact band this melody came from.

I feel like a newbie....

I have a good one for you. This entire song by the Piass is built up of songs that already existed.

I'll periodically be merging topics that go along the lines of "this melody sounds familiar" into this one. Makes life easier and then maybe someone can help out.

the Gazette's FADELESS sounds too much like Luna Sea's Sweetest Coma Again in many parts.

So yeah, appropriate place for this post.

"Missa's '奇櫻の宴,' The Piass' 'G-Gas~,' and another song by The Kiryu (I can't remember which, for the life of me) have this same oriental melody to it. I've been dying to know where it comes from."

hey Seraphim, that melody is a traditional japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakura_Sakura)

Ruellia also used it:

^ I was pretty sure that GD wouldn't rip off some basic oshare song. So yeah, I can hear the source for both.

Makes sense in overall

Oh, and as I mentioned, Kuroyume's "Happy Birthday" bassline is pretty much "Lust for Life" as well

Them touring travelling around Europe and USA usually might spark something out too

But most probably they got their inspiration from video games and ultraman lol

The bass at the beginning of Alice Nine's Heavenly Tale

Reminds me a lot of the bass at the beginning of Between the Buried and Me's Informal Gluttony

Rosenfeld - B/Crows in Black

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAqT-KHO7Ro

X Japan - Blue Blood

Pretty similar, isn't it? They were both active around the same time in the 80's, both being early VK and stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if X Japan heard Rosenfeld first, and either intentionally or unintentionally wrote a very similar riff. It's a great riff and I would written the same if I could.
